Hey, folks!
Due to popular demand, find my route for my two-week backpacking tour in Vietnam below. You can click on the grouped balloon icons (2 and 5) to see further stops and details. Be sure to click on the full-screen button below the Terrain button for better viewing.
The exact dates for my stops are not fixed yet. As of now, I only have rough idea on which days I’ll be in what city. The remaining details will be finalized once I land in Vietnam and visit the Old Quarter in Hanoi and book the appropriate transportation. There’s always so much you can plan outside the country. I’ll have to just “wing” the rest and post my actual itinerary via Google map “on the go”
| From | To | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Hanoi | Cat Ba Island from Hai Phong | Instead of doing the classic Halong Bay tour on a junk boot, I'll visit Cat Ba Island and go Kayaking and Climbing in the Lan Ha Bay |
| Hai Phong | Ninh Binh | This is supposed to be a nice and quiet place where Vietnamese come to relax and is alot less touristy |
| Ninh Binh | Hue | In Hue I'll take a walk around the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Complex of Hue Monuments (Emperors Citadel) |
| Hue | Bach Ma National Park | This is an optional stop if find time |
| Bach Ma National Park | Hoi An | And another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ancient Town of Hoi An |
| Hoi An | My Son | If I have time, I'll take a 1/2 - 1 day trip to the Hindu temples in My Son |
| My Son | Da Nang | Da Nang has an airport to fly to HCMC, so I'll have to travel back to Da Nang to catch a plane |
| Da Nang | Ho Chi Mihn City aka Saigon | I'll be flying out of Da Nang to HCMC |
| Ho Chi Mihn City | Hanoi | From HCMC it's back to Hanoi and from there back to cold Germany ;-( |
